AGE GROUP CHANGE: Beginning with the 2026-27 season, U.S. Soccer is shifting from the Jan. 1-Dec. 31 birth-year system to a school-year calendar of Aug. 1-Jan.31. Your child’s soccer age may change and their team could look different next fall. This change affects all soccer clubs (not just GUSC).

Refer to the “Age Group Chart” (right) ALL players with Birthday shown in GREEN (U10+) MUST register for tryouts:
- Step #1: Register your player(s) through Gotsport. Click the link above to sign in or create a new account.
- Step #2: See the Tryout Schedule below for age group dates, times and attend your tryout sessions.
- Step #3: If your player is invited to play on a team, GUSC will send an invite approx 1-week after the last tryout date. Players have 3-days to accept or decline. After accepting proceed to registration.
Tryouts are always FREE to attend!
Please check our social media page before leaving for tryouts in case of inclement weather or field changes.
Bring your stuff…cleats, shin guards, water…a good attitude!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GUSC holds official tryouts each year, as is standard among travel programs, toward the end of the spring season. Our objective is to place all interested players within the player pool on teams that best match their current ability, support their long-term individual development, and contribute positively to team success.
We aim to provide each team with the opportunity to add new players who will make a meaningful impact. In addition, mid-season evaluations and player movement within the club allow us to support and appropriately place players who demonstrate significant growth throughout the year.
All players will try out together within their respective age groups.
GUSC will tier teams as the player and coaching pool permits. For ALL age groups, the club will aim to form a First team as priority; a Second team in age groups where the player pool is large enough; as well as combine multiple age groups.
Final roster decisions will be made by the Head Age Group Coaches in consultation with GUSC leadership (Directors of Coaching).
Offers will be extended on a rolling basis following the first tryout session. If you have not received communication within 7 days after the final tryout date, please reach out to the appropriate Age Group Head Coach and Director of Coaching.
It is important that players are placed in environments where they can experience success, develop skills appropriate to their stage of growth, and compete in leagues and tournaments that match their level.
Our goal is for every player to enjoy a positive and meaningful youth soccer experience.
We also recognize that players mature and develop at different rates. Within our club, it is common to see players on second teams progress to first teams over time through commitment, effort, and exposure to a strong team and training environment.
At the same time, there are situations where a player may be better served at a different level. This may include players who are struggling at their current level, returning from a long-term injury, or lacking confidence. In these cases, a move to a different team can be in the player’s best interest for continued development.
In summary, player movement does occur and is based on performance, ongoing evaluation, supplemental tryouts, and league and roster guidelines.
